Missing my mini every day

The mini that I own is not a hugely old car, nor is it worth a lot. For that reason the insurance was incredibly reasonable when I was a new driver.

But for other classics, I was wondering how owning one, compared to owning a more modern car, affected the insurance quote of a new or young driver.

Some of the mainstream insurers won't take on cars over a certain age, however, there are specialists that do classic car insurance, and with limited mileage, it can work out incredibly cheap.

I remember reading a few years ago about a lad around 20 being quoted over £1000 for a newish Peugeot with a small engine (around 1.0l). He ended up getting a Corvette Stingray and paid about £250, if I recall, on classic car insurance.
