This system of suspension was developed for the Austin Allegro, and was initially hugely lacking. It has however been developed throughout subsequent marques made by Austin and is now seen to be an efficient suspension that is relatively uncomplicated, though to me the idea of a gas pressurized ball replacing the springs is odd.

It is this system that wrote my father's Allegro off, in his little smash.

Let's discuss the features of this innovative system.

I dont mind talking about suspenders with any young lady!!! Shocked. But seriously the later Hydragas systems were a vast im provement on the Hydralastic systems which used rubber balls to act as springs

 Shocked  Cheesy

I always really had a funny feeling about them. It was the one part of the Allegro that I was unsure about-and on the whole I liked it otherwise, especially since it was the first car I got to work on a little. But it was just such an odd set up and seemed like the risk of leak or explosion would be huge.

How big was the risk in reality? Was this system the weak link in the chain for the car?
